10 Super Foods To Add To Your Weight Loss
Diet
If you’re interested in losing weight, then I’m sure you
already know how some foods are better for you than others. To
give you a head start, we’ve researched a list of 10 of the
best foods you can eat to stay healthy, satisfy your hunger,
and even promote weight loss.
These are the kinds of food that you should try to include
in your diet as often as you can. A good idea would be to add
at least two or three of these foods each day to your daily
menu.
So without any further waiting here are the 10 “super
foods”.
The first super food we recommend is the Tomato. Why?
Because tomatoes are very low in calories. They are also a
great source for the vitamins A, and C. You can also enjoy them
when they’re both cooked and raw.
Here’s a preparation suggestion: Try halved tomatoes
sprinkled with parmesan cheese and broiled until the cheese
melts.
The next super food is Salmon. Fish may not be everyone’s
favorite, but there’s no denying that it’s a very healthy food.
Salmon is heavy in omega 3 fatty acids, protein and calcium, as
well as the Vitamin B and D. You can eat Salmon grilled, baked
or sautéed, serve over a bed of brown rice with a squeeze of
lemon juice.
Our next super food is green tea. Green tea is known to be a
metabolism booster, and it’s also full of antioxidants. It can
be great either hot or iced.
If you’re not a fan of green tea, we recommend that you mix
it with black tea – this suggestion is mainly for people who
don’t like the taste of green tea. You can add a sprig of mint
or lemon for further variety.
Another super food to eat regularly is Broccoli. This isn’t
everyone’s favorite vegetable – but there’s no denying that
it’s high in fiber, vitamins A and C, as well as being low in
calories. You can stir fry broccoli with garlic and scallions
with a splash of soy sauce for a delicious oriental style
meal.
Next up we have Apples. Some people believe that an apple
before each meal helps you lose weight – mainly because it
takes away the initial hunger, so you’re less likely to overeat
in general.
Apples are also high in pectin and fiber so your hunger will
be satisfied for longer. Apples can also help with skin
complexion, which is a great added bonus!
A nice serving suggestion for when you’re bored with plain
old apples is to bake them with the center filled with walnuts
and a sprinkle of brown sugar.
Another super food to try is Spinach. By the way, Popeye was
certainly correct about the qualities of spinach – but the
fresh kind is way better for you than the canned variety.
Nutrient wise, spinach is rich with antioxidants, as well as
vitamins A, K, B and C.
A nice way to serve Spinach is to dress it will with olive
oil and vinegar dressing. Add a sliced hard boiled egg and you
almost have a perfect meal.
Next we come to a type of nut which we class as a super
food. While some diets may warn you away from nuts, they can be
great for you. In particular, we recommend the Walnut.
Why? Because it’s a great source of protein, healthy fat and
fiber.
Walnuts are particularly delicious when added to yogurt to
boost the protein and add some fiber. You could also cook them
with brown rice if you fancy a crunch to your meal.
Another staple super which you can’t go wrong with are Oats.
Eating oats in the morning is very convenient (even the long
cooking kind takes a mere 5 minutes until it’s ready to eat)
and it’s a great source of fiber. Oats have also been shown to
decrease cholesterol, which is a great additional health
benefit.
And remember: Oats are not just for breakfast. You can add
them to a meatloaf or meat balls for extra fiber – and it will
make a delicious meal.
A tasty super food to try is Blueberries. These have often
been referred to as “miracle berries”. Why? Because they are
chock full of vitamins and antioxidants.
Blueberries in a salad can also be a tasty treat. If you’re
a fan a smoothies (and who isn’t?) you can easily add a handful
of blueberries in the blender to make an excellent addition to
a fruit smoothie.
Finally, we have Garlic. What kind of super food list would
this be if we left out Garlic?
Garlic is great for cooking in many meals, and it’s been
proven to be good for your health countless times. One of the
big benefits to Garlic is that it reduces cholesterol and blood
pressure in most people. Garlic mellows considerably when
cooked. Try throwing several cloves into the water when you're
making pasta then break them up before adding the sauce.
And as an added extra, here’s a complete menu we’ve made
using only these super foods:
Grilled salmon served with broccoli.
Spinach salad, cherry tomatoes with garlic dressing.
Sliced apple compote with blueberries baked with oats and
walnuts.
Iced green tea.
Enjoy!
